Before Game 5 of the NBA finals, a lot of the media criticized LeBron James for not stepping up, but he stepped up during Game 5 of the NBA finals. A few days later after the Cleveland Cavaliers won and the Warriors lost, a lot of people in the media are criticizing the MVP for not stepping up during Game 5.

Following James’ great performance to keep his team alive for a Game 6  in Cleveland, now everyone is questioning Curry play and how he is not being assertive enough.  The point guard had an 8-for-21 performance in Game 5 and was just 2-for-9 from behind the arc.Curry missed  a lot of shots that he normally make and it gets Oracle rocking, but that was not the case.

The MVP does not care what nobody thinks of his play because his team is winning the series and needs one more game to close it out. Curry does need to step up today and play well so they can be back-to-back NBA champions or it will be a lot of pressure on them in Game 7 at home. Here is what the MVP said about what people think of his play:

“I don’t really worry about (what people say),” Curry said Wednesday, a day before his team tries to win an NBA Finals on the road for the second consecutive year. “I mean, there’s kind of an historical kind of expectation of the all-time greats in this league that have had great Finals moments and had these kind of numbers and these kind of numbers. None of them played for this team and understood how I try to help my team every single night.

“So, yeah, I want to honestly play better and more consistent, but the situation is right now we’re one game away from winning a second championship, and I personally have 48 minutes to do what I need to do to help my team win. So right now it could kind of get lost in that. But at the end of the day if I’m sitting here tomorrow night with another trophy and celebrating with my teammates, we can talk all day.”

Curry is still averaging 22 points per game, but people want to see him do more and put his mark on these NBA Finals like he did in Game 4 with 38 points. There is a lot of pressure on Golden State because they do not have Andrew Bogut who helps them on the defensive side of the ball, but Draymond Greens returns for Game 6 after being suspended for the previous game. It will be interesting to see how the game plays out tonight for both teams.
