After watching the finals, the Golden State Warriors has a weakness and that is a lack of scoring in the post.
According to Tim Kawakami of the San Jose Mecury News, Dirk Nowitzki is a potential target they are going to want to talk to when free agency starts in 10 days from today.
Nowitzki will opt out of his contract once free agency starts. The 38-year old has made it very clear that he does not want to be in a rebuilding and is leaning towards signing with the Dallas Mavericks. Golden State is an intriguing spot for him because he brings scoring in the post and on the outside. That will be an dangerous team next season. Nowitzki is a second-tier option, while trying to lure Kevin Durant is Golden State first option
The Warriors understand that they can not always shoot the ball from the perimeter, but if they get Nowitzki, it will be an upgrade because it will make them a better team because he is versatile. He led the Mavericks in scoring with 18.3 points per game. He has a lot of venim in those legs as Reggie Miller would say.
This would be an huge upgrade if they are able to convince him to sign with them because he will be able to provide a lot. Nowitzki officially opted out of his contract today according to Marc Stein of ESPN. The Warriors will try to get him as I said earlier if they can’t land Kevin Durant
