There have been rumors revolving around one of the core people for the Los Angeles Lakers and that is D’Angelo Russell. It has been a lot of speculation surrounding him, but all those rumors need to stop.
The young point guard was in a lot of heat this past season by his former coach Byron Scott on the court and off the court. He was in the accident with Nick Young recording. His maturity has been questioned by a lot of people. During his rookie season, he seem to not cement his status as the future point guard for the rebuilding Lakers.
Nobody opinion really matters except the person that is handing out the checks and that is Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak.
Russell said that Kupchak has all the confidence in his young guard:
There had been a recent report that the Lakers were trying to acquire another top-five pick in this year’s draft and that Russell would be the player to go if the report was true, but it is not
While the general manager has all the confidence in him, we will see how well Russell has grown once the off-season is over. It will be good that he has an coach who is champion coaching him next season. Luke Walton will make sure Russell will succeed next season.
