This is not the most important news that San Antonio Spurs fans want to hear, but Matt Boner does want to return to San Antonio.

Spurs fans are focusing on whether Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili will come back for a final ride or return. The “Red Mamba” has made it clear that he does want to return back with this team if they want him back.

He told Tom Orsborn of the San Antonio Express-News that he really wants to play one more year with the Spurs.

“I am going to try to play another year, hopefully, with the Spurs,” said Bonner, 36. “We’ll see what happens.”

While Boner role has been reduced, the 36-year-old really loves the San Antonio Spurs because he does not get that many minutes, the culture of the team and being around good guys is something that he loves. He gets minutes but it is not a lot because of Duncan and Lamarcus Aldridge. He’s a role player and to play with a team for 10 years is something that he loves. He called himself a lucky guy.

“All of it has been positive and amazing,” he said. “It’s an awesome organization, a great city to live in, with great fans. … I consider myself one of the luckiest players ever to play in the NBA. To be a role player, a bench guy and be able to stay on the same team for 10 years, I consider myself very fortunate.”

Boner only played in 30 games, but Greg Popovich loves older guys who can play in his system and he fits that role. He does not complain and he is all about the team.  He does not want big money and there should be mutual interest, the Spurs should sign him for one more year because he is on the veteran minimum
